It was time to get Ash and Matt married. After borrowing a vehicle that had taken some of the older guests down closer to the venue, I took the bridesmaids down to get them in place in the holding area then I went back to get Ash and her dad and sisters. Everyone was excited but feeling a bit nervous well that was everyone except Ash she was still so calm and excited. The ceremony was so personal and heart felt. Matt had a few tears in his eyes when he first saw Ash and when they exchanged vows, even though he will still stick to the story of dust in his eyes!
Ash got in touch with me around November 2017, Ash and Matt live in Australia and were planning their wedding to be at Hu’s Art Farm, Auckland.
From the first time I spoke to Ash I could tell she was really organised with everything but so relaxed about it all as well. Ash let me know she just wanted help on the day setting up and styling as well as on the day coordination.
Throughout the next few months I kept in contact with Ash via email and facetime. A few weeks out from their wedding Ash and Matt flew back into NZ to sort out the finer details and getting ready for their big day. The day before the wedding I headed out to the venue to meet with Ash to go through all the details she needed to pass onto me and get an idea of her vision. Ash was so relaxed and excited, it really set the tone for the rest of the day and how I knew her wedding would be.
Unfortunately it had been raining and we did get rained on while we were down at the wedding ceremony area. I had to have the discussion with Ash about where we would have the ceremony if it was raining on the wedding day and at what point she would want me to make the call. She left that up to me which was nice she had that trust in me.
Saturday 13 October was finally here! Today is the day Matt got to marry his best friend. I got there early and walked into an amazing surprise, Ash and her bridesmaids had started on the set up and done a lot of the table settings. The place looked amazing and I could see why Ash had gone with Hu’s art farm. I then went upstairs to where Ash and her bridesmaids were getting ready to let her know I was there and she how she was going. In true Ash form she was relaxed and enjoying the day. After a quick hi to all the girls and talk with Brooke, Ash’s sister and maid of honour it was back downstairs to get into it all. The next few hours flew past with more vendors arriving to organise and finishing off setting everything up.
It was then time to go down to the wedding ceremony location and decide if it was dry enough to hold the ceremony and if I thought the rain would hold off. After looking around I could see most of the area would have dried up enough and the one area I didn’t think would have at the start of the isle could have a mat put over it so we could go ahead with where she really wanted to say “I do”. It was now time to get this area ready for a wedding!
Erin from Rosebud and Willow arrived to set up the flowers on the arch. She did an amazing job with all the flowers from the bouquets to the flowers on the tables and the arch. We now had this area ready to go so I could move back up to finish off the last details, check on Ash and meet the next lot of vendors coming in.
I was able to work with a lot of amazing vendors that day and a few that I want to mention. Amy from Blank Canvas did an AMAZING job of the food. Let’s say there were a few issues with their mobile ovens but Amy sorted out the issue, came up with a plan and got on with it. No one was any the wiser and the food was incredible. Jason from Bad Panda made one awesome wedding video for them and Alfie the caravan wiped up some delicious cocktails for everyone to enjoy throughout the night including Ash and Matt who were well into their expresso martinis.
They were husband and wife and it was time to celebrate after the ceremony they had champagne and canapes down by the ceremony area.
Matt, Ash and their wedding party then moved off for photos while everyone else moved up the top towards the reception area.
Once Ash and Matt were finished it was time to make their entrance. They had different songs for different wedding party members to come in to and this really got the party started. It was amazing watching them all come in dancing to their respective songs and Ash and Matt made one grand entrance as husband and wife.
Dinner and speeches followed with some amazing words from family and friends. You could see how much love they all had for Matt and Ash and how happy everyone was for them. In the background there was a few more issues to happen which were dealt with and hopefully not ever known by Matt or Ash. This is where I say your wedding coordinator can be worth their weight in gold as they can deal with all of this and you can be none the wiser.
After the cutting of the cake and first dance it was time to say congrats to Matt and Ash one last time before heading off to let them continue this party which I have no doubt carried on until all hours of the morning.
Congrats again Matt and Ash. Thanks for letting me be part of your special day, I had so much fun and was so nice working with a bride that was so relaxed about the whole thing.
