Simone and Chris’ wedding blog

I meet Simone at the Waitakere wedding show. Her wedding was a year and a half away so I knew she was really organised if this far out she was already looking into everything.
We chatted for a bit about how I could help her on her wedding day and she decided then and there she wanted to have me for on the day coordination including set up and style.
A month or so later we got together to talk a bit more in detail about her wedding and all the details she had so far.
Simone was already pretty organised with everything and I was excited to be on board.
As her wedding was still a while away there wasn’t too much more we could do so I just kept in touch with her to see how everything was going and see everything was on track.
As time got closer to her wedding we went out to Simone and Chris’ wedding and reception venue at Markovina’s vineyard estate.
I hadn’t been out the the venue for a long time and looking around I could see why they decided to have it there. The venue has so many different areas they could choose to have their wedding. Simone wanted an outdoor wedding however getting married in August they were realistic that it might not be able to happen. Lucky for them the venue was finishing off a new indoor area off the reception area which is a beautiful indoor wedding venue with a fire place at the end.
The day before the wedding we held a rehearsal for Simone and Chris in their choosen outdoor location. Due to the amount of bridesmaids and also using Simone and Chris’ daughter as the flower girl, having this rehearsal was good so everyone knew what was happening.
We had a look at the indoor area again which was due to be finished but unfortunately wasn’t but was because of no fault of Markovina’s. They then began to do everything they could to make this area look as amazing as possible… The weather for the wedding day was not looking great so was looking more and more likely we would need to use this area. Simone left it up to me to make the call on the day once we could see what the weather was doing.
The day was finally here 20 August, Simone and Chris’ wedding day!! After a quick stop to pick up the floral center pieces and ivy for the table from a family friend it was off to the venue to start setting up.
One thing I really love about Markovina’s is they have a back room with so many decorations, bows for chairs, table runners and even wishing wells that you can use.
Out the back we went to get everything we need then it’s time to get started.
Simone didn’t want to over decorate as the place is so beautiful she didn’t want to take away from this. Her center pieces which were floral arrangements in flax bags were amazing and really tied into their culture. That’s what I loved, was the little elements they had to represent who they were. After a few hours setting everything out including the name place tags and wedding favours the place was looking amazing.
Unfortunately it has been raining all morning so it was time to go and have a look at the wedding area and make a decision on where the wedding would be held. There had been a lot of rain come down and it was pretty wet under the foot. Once over a 100 guest had walked in it would be pretty muddy and also the ladies on heels would sink into the grass so I made the call to have it inside.
Of course after that time the weather cleared and the sun even came out but it was still pretty wet so ultimately the best decision.
We set up the wedding area to look amazing, as the staff at Markovina’s did an amazing job with silk liners from the roof and an amazing chandelier. With chairs set up and the fire going the place looked gorgeous!
Simone and Chris did their first look and some of their photos before the wedding luckily they could get around the grounds and use all the amazing spots.
The wedding ceremony was so beautiful, their vows were heartfelt and everyone just looked on with so much love for them both.
After the wedding they were able to get outside for all the group and family photos then they could spend time with their guests and celebrate being married.
Their reception was amazing, so people had such nice words to say and there was a cultural dance performance by some of the bridesmaids including Simone’s sister and other female friends and family.
You could see how much Simone appreciated it and loved having that at her wedding. Once the first dance was complete and the cake was all cut to be served with dessert it was time for me to say congrats one last time and leave them to party the night away celebrating being husband and wife.
Congrats again Simone and Chris I loved being part of your special day
